If you have read the Reddit post about the huge roadmap update then you will know there are loads of really big new features coming soon, work on this has been going well and I’ve now finished rewriting all the battle code, dispatching fleets code and online status/galaxy pip code. It’s been a massive effort but the result is a much improved core engine I can use to keep the game evolving.
I now need to schedule in some downtime for a major server update, so much as been redone and reconfigured that this won’t be the normal 5 min server reboot.
I am going to plan for a 2 hour downtime on the 8th at 8am UTC. I hope it won't take 2 hours but as it contains so many changes that also need to be backwards compatible it’s very complicated and I may have broken something and need time to fix it.
Once this update is live the game will be running with BOTH the new engine and the old engine side by side so current versions of the game can still play. This is really tricky from my end as it makes for some nasty code, so if you notice anything strange please drop a note on discord or reddit.
There will also be a new version to download after this server update, once again depending on your device it could be a few days before you see it. This new update contains a completely redone battle view, though it looks mostly the same it has been done from scratch to fit the new engine. There are some other minor changes to some screens. The main point is that this update uses the new engine, so once everyone has it I can turn off the old engine code on the server and start plugging in the new major features like subsystems.
